Partner Visa

If you are engaged, married or in a de-facto relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen you may be eligible to apply for a Partner visa or Prospective Marriage visa (“fiancé visa”).

Every relationship is different. Your personal situation determines which Partner visa application suits best to your unique circumstances, including:

  • Your relationship status (engaged, de-facto or married)
  • If you are currently in Australia or overseas
  • If you have an Australian visa history
  • Your preferred time frame

You may or may not be eligible to lodge an application while you are in Australia. Your current or previous visa history may limit your options. Your relationship status (engaged, de-facto or married) also determines which Partner visa you can apply for.

Being in a relationship is not sufficient. Being married is no guarantee for a visa grant. It is important that a complete application is presented to the Department of Immigration, and this includes extensive evidence of your relationship. The Department does not take your word for it; you will need to present evidence of your genuine and ongoing relationship.

To discuss eligibility criteria, costs and time frames we welcome you to book an initial consultation with us.
